A question that occurred to me due to some stuff I've been working on. If we assign a PCI passthrough device to a VM (let's say a GPU) and the PCIe slot for that device is tied to a specific processor...will the scheduler attempt to start the VM on that processor's home NUMA node and run the vCPUs on that CPU package? I've looked at esxtop output on a 6.0 U3 host and the VMs did not appear to follow that behavior. Does anyone know the default behavior here or have a link to relevant documentation?vmMarkA

Fusion 10 breaks bluetooth on macbook
If I close Fusion (after I've been using Windows XP VM for example), sometimes I lose bluetooth. It is lost entirely... bluetooth icon at the right side of my macbook's menu bar says "Bluetooth not available". It will not come back until I restart macos. This is Fusion Pro 10.0.1 on High Sierra supplemental update. It's a real nuissance because I use my macbook in clamshell mode with bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Can't use them without bluetooth.

Workspace one Bind details
I have an issue with connecting my domain with workspace one. I want to integrate a AD with Windows-vertification. i succeded once but had to reinstall my workspace server. Now i have a problem.
I have to connect my domain details en user bind details. Even though i entered the correct information for both users its gives an error that the Bind user details aren't correct even though they are. i added multpe new users to my domain and added them to the Domain admins and Administrators groups. They didn't work either.
Can someone please help me with this problem.

Player 12/14 on Windows 10 - basic questions
Hello community! Perhaps the pros around here can enlighten me or other readers. TIA!
On my Windows 10 PC with OS version 1709 the player 12 or 14 don't run. They start, stay in the background as task, consume ~1/4 of CPU power and nothing else.
So I thought, may be the player requires some Windows services to run which may be deactivated, because there are many services on Windows 10 you don't need. One thing in the requirements of a software to run is mostly forgotten by the programmers: the services. I could not find any information of the player needs - perhaps - Hyper V.
I know, many would probably ask "if there are any antivirus tools running, try again with them turned off", but in my case (company PC) there is an antivirus tool from McAfee running and neither I'm allowed to
Is any Windows service required to run the player? If so, which one(s)?
Are there known problems/issues like mine with Windows 10 1709?
Can antivirus tools prevent the player from running and if so, why? (I mean, such tools are very common, so you a) don't turn them off and b) they are nothing unusual)
If we download the player it says "for 64-bit version of Windows", but installs in \Programs (x86) and runs in 32 bit - why?

Entitle User to a machine in Horizon.
We was previously using the PSSnapin vmware.view.broker to entitle a user to a machine and it was working great. However when we upgraded to 7.3.1 it seems that snappin is no longer working. I am trying to use the new modules from the github link below and it will add the machine to an existing pool however it wont add the user to the pool for some reason. I dont get an error or anything it just doesn't add the user. Anyone have any advice? The script i currently have does everything except this last step of entitling a user to the VM.

Intel CPU bug - VMware fix on the way?
I've read up on forums, mailing lists and on The Register that there seems to be a severe hardware bug with Intel CPUs:

There are Linux patches in the works, and Microsoft will release patches during January's patch tuesday. Is ESXi vurnerable, and if so, when can we expect a patch for this? Since it's a critical issue, it will require lots of patching and planning - any heads up would be appreciated!

Export import Cookies
Hi All,
We do export the cookies form a IE 11browser per user.
This does work fine. Overtime amount of cookies will increase and the export import will take longer.
Iám used to use a powershell script or use the option in a competitors UEM to get rid of cookies older than x days.
IF i do an import of the cookies the time/date stamp is ( creation date ) is not kept and will be the time of moment when import is done.
So using a script deleting cookies older than x days does not work as they have alle the same date/time stamp after import.
The profiles are deleted after logoff.
Any ideas? Options to take a look into?

Issues after VM cloning
Hi all,
I copied a VM from NetApp based datastore to local datastore (via Datastore browser in the vSphere web client). Source & destination ESXi Hosts have the same version 6.5.0.
ESX source system-> version 6.5.0 Build 4564106
ESX destination system-> version 6.5.0 Build 6765664
After the files have been transferred I registered the VM on the destination ESXi Host via VMWare Webclient and tried to start the VM some errors (several records with the same error message) occured:
"File system specific implementation of LookupAndOpen{file} failed
Cannot open the disk .... or one of the snapshot disks it depends on
Module "Disk" power on failed"
I also detected that my vDisks (originally "thin provisioned" ) apear now as "thick provisioned" on the destination ESXi host.
The VM doesn't start.
Can I fix this problem? Do you have some ideas?

Interactive Session Logon time
This is not really a question relating to UEM, more vrealize / View in general; however, I thought this seems to be the most obvious place to post as folk in here are far more obsessed with logon times and probably better placed to help.
I've been tweaking some existing UEM & App Volume deployments to try and optimize logon times as best as possible with some good success. By tweaking some of the UEM configs, I'm able to get logon times from 90 seconds to around 30- 40 seconds. However, I'm struggling to reduce the interactive session logon time at all. Vrops is showing many users interactive times as being as high as an additional 150 seconds. What I can't figure out is what effects this part of the process.
There's very little detail on what VMware define the Interactive Session Logon time metric as (as in zero reference). I've found the definition Citrix use, which is that is the time between a user seeing the VDI desktop and being able to use the mouse/kb to interact with it. Is this true in the Horizon world?
More to the point, does anyone have any idea of what specifically happens during this period? Do App Stack attachments happen in this section, or anything else that I can start to look at?

Production Down - New Portal VMware IDM 3.0 - 3 node HA Cluster
First day we use IDM 3.0, everthing goes well, for 6 hours...
After that production down, no one can access the portal anymore..
The portal status:
Running production for 6 hours, maximum concurrent sessions 950....
I have investigated on the error in the Horizon log and came to the following: VMware Knowledge Base
But.... why is this not known for IDM... and is this the solution?

Linux Host/Windows 10 Pro 64 Guest - Bad Audio?

Host: Linux Mint 18.1 MATE 64Bit / Guest: Windows 10 Pro 64Bit
I've been using VMWare Player for many years on Linux hosts with no problems.
I recently updated Linux VMWare Player and now have a problem:
In my Windows 10 Pro 64Bit guest I have bad audio?
When a sound is played in Win 10 virtual machine the sound is heavily distorted?
I do have current VMWare Tools for Windows installed.
This issue happened recently after updating Linux VMWare Player.
Any help in fixing this problem would be appreciated, thank you!

Storage controllers no longer visible to ESXi after applying ESXi600-201801001
After patching the VCSA to 6.0 u3d, we patched our DL380 Gen9 ESXi hosts with ESXi600-201801001 (patch and microcode). After reboot, the two hpsa P440 and P440ar storage controllers were not visible in vCenter. Obviously this wreaked havoc on the vSAN which is how I discovered the issue. I found that there were driver and firmware updates on them so I updated both, then tried the install again and had the same issue. I have a ticket open with VMware right now and awaiting a response. Wondering if anyone else is having this issue.

ESXi host disconnects from vCenter
Hi all,
I've added one ESXi host (version 6.0.0 5050593) to a vCenter (version 6.0.0 3634793). Everything went well for a pair of months but suddenly the ESXi host disconnected from the vCenter...
Tried to reconnect it to the vCenter and it reconnects without any problem but 5 to 10 minutes after, it disconnects again... What I see in the Tasks & Events tab is:
- Alarm: an SNMP trap for entity esxihost.domain.com was sent // info // 09/01/2018 16:15:30 // esxihost.domain.com
- Host is not responding // error // 09/01/2018 16:17:39 // esxihost.domain.com
As I said, it connects without any problems, which means that the connection is correctly stablished, what I cannot understand is why it disconnects... Would it be a problem with the versions? I assume there should not be any problem adding an ESXi 6.0.0 5050593 to a vCenter 6.0.0 3634793...

vRA 7.x - VirtualMachine.Admin.Owner
Hi All,
How can I deploy a Blueprint for other users (on behalf is not an option because users has no entitlements for that) in vRealize Automation 7.x?
In vRA 6.x, I had users with no entitlement for services (they can't deploy VMs) and, as a Business Group Admin I can deploy a VM using the Custom Property "VirtualMachine.Admin.Owner" specifying a user, so the deployed VM appears in the user's Items Tab.
In vRA 7.x this doesn't work neither setting the property in the Deployment nor the Virtual Machine. The deployment and the Virtual Machine appears in the Admin's Items Tab rather than the User's.

NSX Manager 6.3.5 Deployment Error
We are testing the latest NSX 6.3.5 o our ESXi 6.5 U1e
We have tried to deploy via multiple browsers and using HTML vsphere and flash.
I have re-downloaded the ova file to see if the original image was corrupted to no avail. We have selected and unselected VMware’s CEIP.
In all cases the following error arises
Invalid value 'true' specified for property vsm_isCEIPEnabled.
Any ideas ?
