Добрый день. Имеется два сервера - файловый сервер и бекап сервер с Veeam . Бекап сервер производил снепшоты файлового сервера, в один из дней часть снепшотов были "в грязную" удалены с диска бекап сервера, что естественно было ошибкой. Через некоторый промежуток времени файловый сервер запросил консолидацию в vmware, но консолидация происходила с ошибкой. После отключения бекап сервера консолидация прошла успешно (отключение бекап сервера видимо тоже было ошибкой), но после этого бекап сервер перестал запускаться с ошибкой:
Failed to start the virtual machine.
Cannot open the disk '/vmfs/volumes/файловый сервер.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.
Failed to lock the file
Module Disk power on failed.
Если отключить файлоый сервер, то бекап сервер начинает запускаться, то есть одноврменно сервера не запускаются.
Как выйти из этой ситуации с минимальными потерями? В случае удаления бекап сервера и настройки его заново это может привести к ошибкам в работе файлового сервера?

I have a backup tool complaining that the vStorage APIs" feature is not installed on the Esxi server.
The host uses VMware ESXi 6.5.0 build-4564106
And I would like to know how can I see if that feature is installed or not, and if it's not installed I would like to install it.

I have provisioned Autodesk Vault Professional in an appstack (AppVolumes 2.18) and find that for the first user/session, the application works without issue. However, when a second user attempts to load the application, it crashes "a software problem has caused Autodesk Vault Professional 2019 to close unexpectedly".
I do not have this issue if i install the app traditionally on the RDSH server (Windows 2019 DC). I do have this working currently on W2K12R2 RDSH.

Is it possible to wait for vsphere guest customisations to have completed before blueprint deployment status is set to success?
In my case a number of config management tasks need to happen once the deployment vm has joined the AD domain and rebooted etc.

Do you know that you can create very large VMDKs with Linux sparse files ?
The result is a vmdk-format that can be used in a VM while it does not use the VMware standard vmdk format and so is easy to manipulate with dd for example.
Works on Linux hosts ...
Create descriptorfile like this:
# Disk DescriptorFile
version=1
encoding="UTF-8"
CID=12345678
parentCID=ffffffff
createType="monolithicFlat"
# Extent description
RW 17179869184 FLAT "8tb-flat.vmdk" 0
# The Disk Data Base
#DDB
ddb.adapterType = "lsilogic"
Create flat.vmdk like this:
dd if=/dev/zero bs=512 count=1 seek=17179869184 conv=notrunc of=8tb-flat.vmdk
Done
A vmdk like that uses very little diskspace after creation - way way less than a regular vmdk.
Dont know if they are longterm stable - I use them often and dont need them longer than a few days ...
Advantage: super easy to partition / or format without the need of a VM - just use
gdisk 8tb-flat.vmdk

Hi,
We have a streched Cluster on vSAN 6.7 U3 with a Horizon Infrastructure 7.12.
We use Instant Clones.
The streched cluster is streched through 2 rooms.
The fact is that I'm trying to test the disaster recovery plan, shuting down all the ESXi of my first room.
I saw different results and I'm not sure about the rules I have to follow with Instant Clones and HA.
In case of disaster recovery, do we have to enable HA on the cluster ? In my opinion, instant clones shoud be recreated by the horizon infrastructure on the second room, shoudn't it ? So we should not need to enable HA on the cluster ?
We enabled HA on our cluster and we saw that the VDI rebooted on the others ESXi but we observed strange behaviours, like some VMs in error state in Horizon Console....
What is the best way to have a disaster recovery plan in my case with my instant clones ? What should be the "normal" behaviour ? Recreation ? Reboot from HA ?

Do we need to deploy NSX Container Plugin for vSphere 7 with kubernetes managed Tanzu cluster?
Currently we have vSphere 7 with kubernetes managed Tanzu cluster deployed.
Basically, NSX-T automatically handled L-4 load balancer.
But we can not find a way to create L-7 load balancer intergrations with NSX-T.
So, does deploy NSX Container Plugin for tanzu cluster is the best practice for vSphere 7 with kubernetes solution?

Здравствуйте. Есть кластер с vcenter 6.7. В нем все хосты с 6.5, планируется к покупке новый сервер, который поддерживается только 6.7U3 и 7.0. Подскажите пожалуйста, если на него установить 6.7U3 добавится ли он кластер нормально? Спасибо за ответ. И может я не там посмотрел, но вот этот сервер RS500-E9-RS4 если процеcсор будет Xeon Gold 5118, не поддерживается 6.5 ?

When I try enable vsan in vsphere client, the first is to add and vsan network vmkernel, but it failed to enable vsan service.

Ciao a tutti,
sto usando un sistema operativo Windows 10 a 64 bit come guest OS, usando WMware Workstation 15 player.
La versione del software che sto usando è la seguente: 15.5.2 build-15785246.
Il sistema operativo dell'ambiente host è pure windows 10 64 bit, e gira sul seguente hardware:
Allora, nessun problema finchè si lavora nell'ambiente del guest, ma dopo un pò di tempo, se ritorno al sistema host mi ritrovo con l'esplora risorse bloccato, in pratica è come se tutto il sistema fosse congelato, non posso cliccare sulle icone, le finestre non rispondo.
Chiaramente ho installato correttamente le guest addictions, ho fatto diversi tentativi tarando opportunamente l'hardware da destinare al guest ma il problema torna sempre.
Ho inoltre provato ad installare una versione di win 7 64 bit come sistema guest, ma il problema si ripresenta tal quale.
C'è qualcuno che può aiutarmi?
