I'm looking to upgrade to vSphere 6 and re-architecture our environment a little. Currently we have 2 sites. We are a small environment with 5 hosts for less than 100 servers and 3 hosts for VDI with around 60 VMs at each site. We are also using SRM. We have a dedicated 100Mbps (burstable to 1Gbps) WAN link.
Currently we have the following at each site (ALL Windows):
1 vCenter (servers)
1 vCenter (VDI)
1 Horizon View server
I was thinking of doing the following at each site with vSphere 6:
1 PSC Appliance
1 vCenter Appliance (servers)
1 vCenter Appliance (VDI)
1 Windows server for SRM and Update Manager
1 Horizon View server
This will look basically like this in the diagram minus the Update manager/SRM and View servers.
Doing this will allow as to have one SSO domain with linked mode.
Does this make sense?
Is it overkill for my small environment?
If the link between sites go down will that be an issue?
Should I keep the sites separate but the same basic setup with 2 panes of glass?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
