Hi to all!
So, I've just downloaded VMware Workstation 10 (I've already installed VMware Workstation 9), and still don't understand if know USB 3.0 is fully supported.
In the Release notes here:
VMware Workstation 10.0 Release Notes
it generically talks about "USB 3 streams", that, if I've well understood, reguards only USB 3.0 mass storage devices.
In the manual (page 116), it says:
USB 3.0 xHCI (Extensible Host Controller Interface) support is available for Linux guests running
kernel version 2.6.35 or later and for Windows 8 guests. The virtual machine hardware must be
compatible with Workstation 8 or later virtual machines.
So, if I'm running, for example, Windows 7 as guest, can I have access to an external hard disk connected through USB 3.0? What about other devices?
Or they work only if I have Linux or Windows 8 as guest?
Sorry, but it's not clear and I need to know it before upgrading.
Thanks in advance!
