i have 2 vmware esx servers,
Server 1 vmware esx 4.1
Server 2 vmware esxi 4.0
i need to copy large files between 2 virtual machines, im using a crosover cable between 2 physical servers hoping to improve the transfer rate, but the speed is not getting better (currently about 7-8 mbps)
i dont know if there any vmware limitation about the use of network, (i dont have any resouce limit on the virtual machines) or maybe im missing something.
This is my configuration
On server 1
- pluged crosover cable on vmnic 1
- created a virtual switch using vmnic1
- created a virtual machine network named "VMBackup Network"
- configured virtual machine and added an adapter using "VMBackup Network" ip 10.10.10.3 mask 255.255.255.248 this is a linux centos machine.
O server 2
- pluged crosover cable on vmnic 6
- created a virtual switch using vmnic6
- created a virtual machine network named "VMBackup Network"
- configured virtual machine and added an adapter using "VMBackup Network" ip 10.10.10.2 mask 255.255.255.248 this is a windows 2003 machine
