Vmware Player 5.0.2 build-1031769

Running on Windows 7 64x (Bootcamp)

Hello everyone, I have been experiencing an issue whenever I boot up gnome on the vmware player. The problem is that I cannot get the application to recognize my external WiFi adapter by using the following: Removable Devices > [name of WiFi adapter] > Connect (Disconnect from host). Whenever I select the connect option it gives me this message on the lower right hand corner "The connection for the USB device [name of WiFi adapter] was unsuccessful. The device is currently in use." I believe it is because my virtual drive was configured to "Linux > Other Linux 2.6.x kernel" during my selection of the guest operating system, and that the virtual drive is not USB 3.0 compatible. I read one tutorial online and a user stated that there is a way to change the compatibility of the USB connection by simply accessing the Hardware device through the "Virtual Machine Settings" selection. The USB compatibility option listed: USB 1.0 - USB 2.0 - USB 3.0 and I attempted to change it to the latest 3.0 version. Unfortunately, there was a help message at the bottom which stated: "Using USB devices with a USB 3.0 controller requires Linux kernel 3.2 or newer." I have no idea where to get the module for Linux kernel 3.2 or any of the latest drivers. I'm only stuck with kernel 2.6.x at the moment. Is there a way to resolve this issue? Thank you.
