This is driving me batty. I incorrectly purchased an Adaptec 5445 thinking that it would be able to handle a cheap external NAS I built some years ago using Addonics branded SI3512 Internal HBA and enclosure with 5 1tb drives in RAID 5. I use this currently to house backups, and do a disk-to-disk for offsite storage of daily's to a MyBook like external device.
I'd like to attach a PCIe eSata card to our Power Edge 720 server running 5.1 U1 and utilize this NAS for the same purpose but am having real trouble finding an HCL approved card. It doesn't have to do RAID since the controller in the NAS handles this for me on the card.
Does anyone have a recommondation for a cheap PCIe eSata card that has perhaps 4 external ports? I don't care if I can't do PCI passthrough at this point, I'll just present the drives as a datastore if necessary....
Thanks.
